Delphi 2009    What Users are Saying

"Delphi 2009 is the most important new release since Delphi 3."

"For us as a database vendor, Delphi 2009 is the most important new release since Delphi 3. The full Unicode support and the numerous changes to the data access layers put Delphi 2009 at the top in terms of rapid application development. For anyone serious about internationally deployed database applications, Delphi 2009 is an absolute must."
-- Thorsten Engler, Principal Software Architect at Nexus Database Systems

"The IDE overall feels much faster than I remember..."

"The IDE overall feels much faster than I remember for BDS 2006 or 2007…Some of the new controls look interesting and fun, and I look forward to exploring the new language features and assessing the impact of Unicode on some of my stuff."
-- Jolyon Smith, Deltics

"Working with Delphi 2009 is great"

"Working with Delphi 2009 is great. Besides the many new improvements that will speed up the development process, the new Unicode support will allow my customers to unlock the full potential of Easy MAPI."
-- Peter Wolters, CEO, RAPWare

"...it works like magic"

"...it works like magic. The Delphi IDE is once again mature. If you have ever looked with horror at the tens or hundreds of megabytes demanded by .NET for your small Windows Forms utility, or found yourself troubleshooting some obscure problem installing the .NET Framework, Delphi is well worth investigating."
-- Tim Anderson, ITWriting

"Good news!... it is fast"

"Good news! For people who worried about installation of Delphi 2009 - it is fast (or faster, since it always comes to personal opinion). I have done several "fresh" installs, along with "on-top" installations. It took me less then I spend downloading it over my 3Mb connection. Compare it to Visual Studio installation time and it starts to look very good."
-- Serge Dosyukov, a Founder and President of Dragon Soft Consulting Services

"There is a lot to explore: generics, unicode, etc.”

"Installation improved a lot! Installing Delphi 2009 only took 13 minutes (remember > 1 hour installations...)…and there is a lot to explore: generics, unicode, etc."
-- Roland Beenhakker, Beensoft Software Engineering

"Delphi 2009 will bring to us a new level of deployment"

"Delphi 2009 will bring to us a new level of deployment, using the new DataSnap/DBExpress framework. Now, without dependence of COM and Unicode support, we can deploy new concepts of client-side applications, and new clients in other languages. We plan to deploy our ERP system in all of Latin America and the USA, because today we deploy only in Brazil."
-- Mauricio Buso, OneSolution

"Delphi 2009 enabled us to add...to a complex system with hardly any code to rewrite."

"The Unicode support in Delphi 2009 enabled us to add support for Russian and Chinese output documents to a complex system with hardly any code to rewrite (with the exception of third-party components, most of which came available shortly after the release of Delphi 2009). The fact that Unicode is now part of the RTL and VCL made the move very smooth and with a number of IFDEF we can even cross-compile and produce both an ANSI and Unicode version of the application. Great work Delphi!"
-- Bob Swart, Bob Swart Training & Consultancy

"It’s the fastest installer and the fastest IDE in years"

"I've downloaded and installed the trial version. So far, it’s the fastest installer and the fastest IDE in years. Orders of magnitude faster than BDS 2006, for instance. Seems very stable too. Congrats CodeGear!"
-- Alexandre Caldas Machado, Consultbrasil Tecnologia & Negocios

"Delphi 2009 is the best Delphi version ever released."

"I personally think that Delphi 2009 is the best Delphi version ever released. In my opinion, Delphi 2009 is far more stable and faster than previous versions. Unicode is a must"
-- Magnus Flysjö

"Delphi 2009 is the state of the art [and] blazing fast"

"Delphi 2009 is the state of the art Win32 RAD tool, it is blazing fast and you did a big step by introducing unicode. With the unicode support and the new ribbon control, our application has taken a facelift and is ready for all the languages we desire!"
-- Stéphane Wierzbicki, Responsable Informatique, Fermoba Industries

"[Delphi 2009] is a big, big deal."

"To everyone at Embarcadero/CodeGear who worked on the documentation in Delphi 2009: THANK YOU for speeding up the help load times, context sensitive keyword lookup, and for making it work much more reliably. If the content continues to improve and the Help continues to expand and get more and more full of great content, I expect people may move up from old versions of Delphi to Delphi 2009, just for that. It's a big big deal. My initial impressions are: WOW! Did you guys ever do a lot of good work."
-- Warren Postma, Software Development Team Leader, Tekran Instruments Corporation

"All I can say is WOW!"

"All I can say is WOW! Nice work! I ported the 100K+ source from the Delphi 2007 compatible version to a version that compiles under both 2007 and 2009 with ZERO hints, warnings, or errors, and I did it in less than half a day! If I'd simply done a port from one to the other, it probably would have taken a third less time. I'm impressed! And the IDE itself is nicely done." "Nice job on the Ribbon controls; I started from scratch and had a working application with a few ribbons and several groups with controls in them in about 15 minutes. It's extremely easy to do."
-- Ken White, Clipper Functions for Delphi

"It's smaller, faster and includes a lot of improvements"

"So far, Delphi 2009 is a worthy and significant upgrade to Delphi 2007. It's smaller, faster and includes a lot of big and small improvements. I intend to migrate my current projects as soon as it's practical. I'm seeing the biggest immediate impact from Generics and Unicode, which let me simplify a bunch of code. Good job guys."
-- Bruce McGee, Owner, Glooscap Software

"Definitely the best for native Windows development so far."

"Fastest, most reliable and most efficient Delphi that has been released yet!" I am using Delphi since version 2.0 and this is definitely the best for native Windows development so far." "I love what I found with a first glimpse! There is a tab called "Ribbon Controls" that contains 5 additional VCL Controls to allow you to build applications with Ribbon support. Designing a Ribbon is very easy as the designer offers menu items in the context menus to add pages and groups. All in all, this looks like a cool feature!"
-- Holger Flick, Owner, EDV Beratung Holger Flick

“There are no limits now to reach the global market”

"The new Delphi 2009 with support for Unicode is the most exciting and awaited version by us!. There are no limits now to reach the global market with our traffic solutions using Delphi as our main tool for software development"
-- Germán Casais, Research & Development Manager, Kapsch TrafficCom Argentina S.A.

“The productivity and resources in Delphi 2009 would surprise anyone. Simply amazing!”

The Delphi 2009 IDE is much more robust, stable and faster for development of our Desktop, Web, Multi-tier and WebService applications. Now with full Unicode support, we can adjust our projects for any culture or language, and reach the global market. Exporting our applications for other countries help us significantly grow our business. The new multi-tier application platform, DataSnap, removes the COM dependence from our projects, making it safer and faster to develop, deploy, and execute. I'm sure recommend to all companies and developers, certainly they will migrate in a very short time. The productivity and resources of this new version would surprise anyone!
-- Manoel Edesio, DelphiTeamBR community

"All this gets much easier with Delphi 2009."

"Why you need Delphi 2009: Many developers don't consider Unicode necessary. However, there are a few characters that may already have caused you problems…For instance, the euro symbol (€) does not exist in the ISO-8859-1 character set!... If you're exchanging CSV or ansi files, but want to include the euro symbol, you may experience problems with other character sets. All this gets much easier with Delphi 2009."
-- Lars Dybdahl, Software Development Manager, Daintel

“This one looks like a winner!”

“I have been spending some time with it the past couple of days. Very nice! This one looks like a winner. Whoever's been watering and feeding it: great job!”
-- Gent Hito, CEO, /nsoftware
